How Did This Accident Occur?
Any late night car accident is going to raise familiar red flags—distraction, fatigue, alcohol, unsafe speeds, etc. However, it’s always important to consider even unlikely possible factors. For example, does this area have issues with lighting or signage? Sometimes, areas are poorly maintained, have a lot of construction going on, or are damaged due to previous accidents. This can create confusion for drivers, which could very well cause an accident drivers aren’t necessarily able to avoid. Likely or not, ruling this out can at least help ensure there are no gaps in the story going forward. Were those steps taken here, or are there areas authorities have yet to touch on in their investigations?
