Navarro County, TX — February 10, 2024, Calvin Edwards Jr. was killed and four others were injured in a car accident at around 11:30 a.m. along U.S. 287.
According to authorities, three 17-year-old boys were traveling in a northwest bound Honda CR-V on U.S. Highway 287 in the vicinity of the Providence Road intersection when the accident took place.

The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been rainy and wet. Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the Honda attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone. As a result, a collision occurred between the Honda and an oncoming southeast bound Chevy Equinox SUV occupied by 77-year-old Calvin Edwards Jr. and a 73-year-old woman.
Edwards incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the wreck. All three of the boys from the Honda sustained suspected severe injuries, while the woman from the Chevy suffered apparently moderate injuries. All the victims were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
