Calvin Boluyt Killed in Road Grader Accident in Mount Vernon, SD

It appears that 24-year-old Calvin John Boluyt was the driver of a Chrysler 200 which was reportedly going southbound along 397th Avenue. In the oncoming lane, authorities said there was a northbound Caterpillar road grader driven by a Davison County worker. That road grader apparently went across the center line and collided with Boluyt’s vehicle. As a result, Boluyt sustained fatal injuries. The Caterpillar driver was not hurt.

According to the Mitchell Republic news outlet, South Dakota Highway Patrol officials say the driver of the road grader was apparently inexperienced with the type of controls used to operate the road grader, and the crash occurred after the driver reportedly over-corrected trying to maintain control of the vehicle. Currently, there are no further confirmed details about the cause of the accident. There appears to be at least one charge pending due to the crash.
