How Did This Accident Occur?
Driver inattention or error is usually the first thing people think when they read about an SUV driving off the road like this but what if the Mazda had a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? Such malfunctions typically aren’t diagnosable from just looking, so a forensic examination could be necessary to eliminate that as a possible contributor to this crash.
Authorities should have been able to rule out, or confirm, other possible causes of this crash after reviewing evidence at the scene, data from the SUV’s engine control module and any available dashcam footage. If a mechanical examination is needed, it likely will take an independent investigator, since most law enforcement agencies typically don’t have the time or training for such probes, in my experience.
