Tillman County, OK — December 11, 2023, one person was killed and eleven were injured in a bus accident at approximately 8:00 a.m. along U.S. 70.
According to authorities, the accident took place between a pickup truck and a school bus with students on board.
Reports indicate that the pickup truck went up in flames following the collision. The driver of the pickup—who had been the sole occupant of that vehicle—was declared deceased at the scene of the accident. It is reported that ten students sustained injures; four of them were transported to a local medical facility with non life-threatening injuries. Three students, however, had to be flown to an area hospital in order to receive appropriate care. The driver of the bus also sustained severe injuries and was transported to a regional hospital for treatment. The severity of injuries incurred by the victims have not been made public at this time.
The cause of the accident is under active investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were not specifically reported; however, photographs taken of the scene which have been published in the news depict apparently clear skies and dry roads.
