Dallas, TX — November 19, 2023, Burnis Stevens was injured following a two-car accident that happened at around 2:10 p.m. on I-35E.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash occurred in the area of 8th Street along southbound lanes of the interstate.

It appears that 56-year-old Burnis Stevens was in a Chevy HHR traveling on the interstate when the vehicle apparently went across multiple lanes to the right and hit the side barrier. The Chevy went back into traffic lanes, and a witness claims they saw the Chevy then back up before being hit by a truck. That truck then left the scene. The witness’s vehicle also collided with the Chevy, details say.
As a result of the collision, Stevens reportedly had incapacitating injuries. There were no other confirmed injuries.

While authorities did mention alcohol as a possible contributing factor here, they also mentioned the victim may have had a head injury and couldn’t recall the events of the accident. Something I talk about a lot with preliminary reports like these is that they may not tell everyone’s side. Especially considering the possibility of a serious head injury, were authorities ever able to confirm the victim’s side of the story here, or are they content to base the entire thing off of one witness’s testimony?
