Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

I have to wonder what all officials looked into regarding this accident. Was this employee given shoddy equipment? Was this a known issue? Had other workers been hurt due to similar reasons? Had there been any previous complaints about an unsafe work environment?

I’ve handled countless Texas work fatality accidents, and I learned a long time ago that OSHA often just scratches the surface. Even if they did find violations here, there could be a whole lot more to the story that would require more thorough independent investigations.
