Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Following a serious car accident like this, it’s not always as simple as blaming a driver and moving on. It’s important for families to know they’re getting all the facts, and that requires delving into evidence that isn’t always so obvious. This can include vehicle data, possible defects, road hazards, poor lighting or signage, drugs and alcohol, drivers who are working at the time of the crash, etc. If authorities can show they’re looking into all of that, that’s a good sign. But more often than not, that car accidents that come across my desk aren’t fully examined until there’s been more thorough independent investigations.
