Accident Report

Hays County, TX — July 28, 2026, Brian Tashnek was killed in a rollover accident at about 6 p.m. in the 15400 block of R.M. 1826.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2005 Dodge Neon allegedly ran a stop sign while heading south on Kinnikinik Loop and collided with a westbound 2016 Honda Odyssey, causing the other vehicle to overturn.

Honda driver Brian Scott Tashnek, 49, died from injuries suffered in the crash southwest of Austin, according to the report.

The Dodge driver, a 45-year-old woman who suffered minor injuries, was charged with failure to yield the right of way after the crash, the report states.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Hays County crash at this time.

Initial reports say this crash happened because the Dodge ran a stop sign, but we don’t know why. Was the driver distracted? Did the Dodge have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? Was the traffic signal at this intersection damaged or missing?
