Brian Dean Injured in Car Accident in La Marque, TX

Investigators said that 49-year-old Brian Dean was in a Subaru Forester which was going along the interstate. It appears a Dodge Ram up ahead was making a u-turn across lanes of travel, during which Dean’s vehicle crashed into the pickup. As a result of the collision, Dean had serious injuries. The other driver wasn’t hurt.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Right now, details suggest that the Dodge driver had been drinking. If that’s true, it would certainly explain why someone might do something as odd as try to make a u-turn on an interstate. What concerns me, though, is that isn’t generally the type of decision someone makes after just a few drinks. For example, I had a case not long ago with a driver turning and driving against traffic, and our independent investigations found the driver was extremely intoxicated. He’d been at a bar where servers illegally over-served him well beyond the point of reason. That meant not only that there was a drunk driver responsible for the crash but also a negligent alcohol provider liable for their role in the accident. Is that something investigators have looked into here?
