Conroe, TX — May 23, 2023, Brayan Lopez Aguilar and Angel Huerta Pedraza were killed due to a construction accident at 3:50 p.m. on Pampaneria Drive.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration gave statements following preliminary investigations into the accident. Their public investigation summary shows the incident happened at 3040 Pampaneria Drive.

According to officials, 20-year-old Brayan Lopez Aguilar, 35-year-old Angel Huerta Pedraza, and several other workers were at a home that was under construction. While working, the investigation summary says there was inclement weather coming through the area, and the National Weather Service issued warnings, including severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings. The OSHA summary says those warnings were “ignored.”
During the storm, it appears there was a microburst that went through the area. Lopez Aguilar, Huerta Pedraza, and the other workers were taking shelter on the first story of the structure when it collapsed during the storm, burying the workers. As a result, Lopez Aguilar and Huerta Pedraza were killed. At least seven other workers had injuries.
The OSHA summary listed one alleged violation citation labeled as “serious.” They also included a recommended penalty of $3,282. At the time of writing, OSHA lists the case status as “Open.” No further information is currently available.
