One thing that’s important to consider is just how complex an accident reconstruction can truly be. Folks assume one car means investigations should be straight forward, but all kinds of things can contribute to a crash like this. For example, defects are a thing authorities are rarely equipped to handle on their own. Did a mechanical failure cause the vehicle to lose control? Did the victim’s seatbelt or airbag malfunction? Did the structural integrity of their vehicle fail in conditions where it should have withstood the rollover? At the end of the day, investigations need to be able to both explain what caused the crash and what caused the victim’s injuries. Otherwise, they may not be telling the whole story. It would be encouraging if authorities already looked into that here, but it would also be pretty unusual.
