According to officials, 34-year-old Bobbyjoe Perez was riding a Harley-Davidson going northwest along the highway. How Did This Accident Occur?

If these initial reports are accurate, then this incident may be yet another example of people not keeping a proper lookout for motorcyclists. This is something I discuss a lot online, yet a lot of folks still just brush off motorcyclists and assume they’re all reckless drivers. Where this really becomes challenging is when insurance companies try to use that to their advantage.

For instance, even if it’s true that police blamed a driver here for an unsafe u-turn, a defense attorney could just claim that the victim was speeding. It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not; they’re just hoping the victim and their family won’t have the evidence or strategy to contest the claim. So, when people act early to gather and preserve evidence, it helps prevent these tactics and make sure people can take a proper, unbiased look at the facts. Hopefully steps have been taken to preserve that evidence here so there can be an appropriate resolution.
