San Antonio, TX — July 9, 2026, Bobby Lugo Sr. was killed in a car accident just before 10 p.m. in the 8500 block of Five Palms Drive.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2013 Buick Enclave was heading northwest when it hit a pedestrian as it approached Old Pearsall Road.
The pedestrian, 55-year-old Bobby Lee Lugo Sr., died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to the report.
The Buick driver was not injured, the report states.

How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point whether the pedestrian was walking in the road or trying to cross it. Or if the Buick driver was distracted or fatigued. Could he see the pedestrian before the crash? Did the Buick have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? The best way to answer these questions, in my experience, is to wait until the investigation is complete.
Authorities should find answers as they work to reconstruct this crash by poring over witness statements, physical evidence, vehicle data and any traffic or security camera footage in the area. Cell phone records could help trace the pedestrian’s movements or show what the Buick driver was doing at the time.
A thorough investigation should give the pedestrian’s family a clear picture of what happened on Five Palms Drive.
