Harris County, TX — January 13, 2024, Billy Leon Meadows was killed as the result of a pedestrian versus vehicle accident at around 10:00 p.m. on East Freeway.
Authorities said in their statements that the collision happened along westbound lanes of I-10 near the intersection with Sheldon Road.
According to initial details from county officials, Billy Meadows was walking at the time carrying a bicycle along the main lanes of westbound East Freeway. While doing so, authorities say that a westbound driver did not avoid Meadows in time, and the vehicle struck Meadows. This ultimately resulted in Meadows succumbing to fatal injuries.
Authorities say that the driver involved stayed at the scene and spoke with authorities. However, authorities reported finding parts to a 2019-2021 Honda Civic which may have been involved in the collision before then fleeing the scene. This remain under investigation.
