How Did This Accident Occur?
People often jump to conclusions with bicycle accidents and assume the cyclist must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. That certainly happens, but I’ve seen countless situations where a cyclist had lights and reflectors, was following traffic laws, and a driver not paying enough attention to the road simply failed to avoid them. Maybe that’s not what happened here, but that’s up to the evidence to say. Regardless of what is or isn’t likely here, the facts should speak for themselves. If authorities can’t ensure that happens, then that can be a sign the crash may be better off with independent investigators picking up the slack.
If anyone is from around this area, are cyclists common late in the evening? Let me know in the comments.
