How Did This Accident Occur?

I’ve often found that people are quick to blame bicyclists after an accident without actually having all the facts. They tend to assume the cyclist wasn’t clearly visible or was riding somewhere they shouldn’t have been. That’s certainly possible—I’m not suggesting anyone ignore that possibility. But bicyclists have the same rights as other motorists, which means car drivers have a responsibility to look out for them.

Did that happen here? Are there any independent witnesses? Have authorities worked to map out the scene, pull cellphone data, and secure data from the car to see how fast it was going? It’s important to know someone is asking these questions. If not, then the accident may need to be put in the hands of independent professionals who can ensure no stone goes unturned.
