Accident Report
April 6, 2026, a woman was injured following a bicycle versus car accident around 9:24 p.m. along 45th Rear Street.
Investigators said that the incident happened at the 45th Street and 45th Rear St. intersection. According to officials, a 19-year-old woman was on a bicycle crossing through the intersection. While doing so, a Cadillac Escalade going northbound struck the cyclist. Due to this, the woman riding the bicycle was seriously injured.
No other injuries were reported. Authorities did not report citations or charges. Additional details are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Looking at this intersection, it would seem most likely that someone just crossed into the intersection when they shouldn’t have. That could either be a cyclist not looking to make sure the coast is clear, or it could be a driver not paying close enough attention to spot the smaller vehicle. Or, this could all be something unusual, like an issue related to signage or sight lines.
Ultimately, it’s up to evidence to say what happened here. My hope is that authorities consider that evidence without letting bias steer the investigations. I’ve seen too many situations where people are more likely to blame bicyclists without actually considering all the facts. That’s why a lot of families decide to have independent investigators looking things over. The more eyes there are on the accident, the less likely it is something slips through the cracks.
Is anyone familiar with this intersection? Are there conditions that could make accidents more likely to occur? Tell me your thoughts in the comments.
