How Did This Accident Occur?
Most drivers don’t expect to have someone run out in the road in front of them, like apparently happened here. The question is whether the driver could have done anything to avoid this collision.
Was the woman chasing her dog near the crosswalk? Was the area well lit? Were any other vehicles able to avoid the pedestrian? Did the vehicle that hit her have a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? Investigations must look for answers to these questions as they pore over witness statements, evidence from the scene, data from the vehicle and any available video footage of this crash. The woman’s family deserves to know this crash happened.
