Austin, TX — September 15, 2025, Bessy Velasquez Cabrera was injured as the result of a car accident at around 8:47 p.m. along I-35.
Initial details about the accident say that the crash happened at the intersection of the I-35 service road and Norwood Park Boulevard.
According to officials, 37-year-old Bessy Velasquez Cabrera was in a Land Rover going northbound. A Ford F-150 was going westbound and allegedly failed to yield. As a result, the vehicles collided.

A common mistake I see from people is thinking that a situation is open-and-shut once authorities blame someone for the crash. The reality is that’s often just the first step for victims and families. Authorities sometimes move on once there’s a driver cited or charged. But victims and families in need of a more thorough resolution need as much evidence as possible telling the story.
That means pulling cellphone records, looking for nearby cameras, analyzing vehicle data, mapping out debris patterns, inspecting vehicles for possible defects, etc. If authorities move on before they’ve done that, then it may be difficult to get a fair conclusions for folks unless there are independent investigators picking up the slack.
