Accident Report

Stephenville, TX — March 22, 2026, Barbara Rocha and her son were killed in a car accident at about 3:30 a.m. in the 200 block of North Ollie Avenue.

Authorities said a car left the road near the intersection with West Green Street and crashed into a house.

Two people in the house, 49-year-old Barbara Rocha and her 7-year-old son, died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to authorities.

The driver of the car was jailed on two counts of criminally negligent homicide after the crash, authorities said.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Erath County crash at this time. The accident is still under investigation.

How Did This Accident Occur?

At this point, it appears authorities believe the driver who crashed into a Stephenville home was responsible for the accident, but what if her car has some sort of mechanical issue that caused the crash.

The car could have had a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism that caused it to leave the road and hit the house on Ollie Avenue, but the only way to know that is to conduct a forensic examination of the car before it is repaired or scrapped. That may require an independent investigation thought, because in my experience most law enforcement agencies don’t have to time or expertise for such examinations.
