Amarillo, TX — May 29, 2024, Ayel Maduak and one other were injured due to a car accident at around 9:30 p.m. along North Western Street.
Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened off the corner of North Western Street and Fairway Drive.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that 19-year-old Ayel Maduak was a passenger in a Chevy Suburban going eastbound on Fairway. At Western, the vehicle reportedly continued straight onto the opposite dirt road where it crashed into a dirt mound and a rock.
As a result of the collision, Maduak had reportedly serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old, had moderate injuries.

According to reports, the teen driver was allegedly drinking before the crash. If that’s true, where did that alcohol come from? There are many ways someone underage can get their hands on alcohol, and obviously anyone providing them with the alcohol deserves to face appropriate consequences. But what always concerns me is the possibility someone sold it to them.
I’ve handled hundreds of cases against alcohol providers for their role in serious drunk driving wrecks. Generally speaking, if an establishment breaks the law, it’s not often an isolated incident. There’s usually a pattern of negligent behavior that could continue putting the community at risk if steps aren’t taken to confront them. So while it’s not clear if anything like that happened here, there’s every reason to find out if authorities are looking into details beyond just the crash scene itself.
