Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
This soon after a deadly car accident, there is evidence that needs to be secured which is often time-sensitive and easy to overlook. Among those details includes things like vehicle data, cellphone records, road markings and debris patterns, signs of a potential vehicle defect, and possible camera footage—either from the vehicles or any nearby businesses or residences.
Emergency responders tend to be overwhelmed with taking care of victims, directing traffic, and clearing the scene. They may not be able to dedicate the time and resources need for careful evidence collection. That’s why a lot of fatal car accidents that come across my desk end up in the hands of independent accident reconstructionists. They can help alleviate a family’s doubts and help ensure all of their questions are answered with clear evidence. Getting eyes on a serious crash like this as soon as possible can make all the difference for a family in need of answers.
