I find that people are quick to write off crashes like this, but it’s always important to know all of the facts. There’s no telling when something unusual might happen that authorities aren’t equipped to investigate on their own.

For example, I was discussing a crash with a colleague recently in which a woman crashed into the back of a semi. She had severe injuries, yet the actual severity of the crash didn’t seem that bad. Well, more thorough investigations from more experienced accident reconstructionists found that the woman’s airbag was defective. So she likely would have been okay had it not been for the defect, regardless of what actually caused the crash.

I’m not saying that happened here, but it’s often helpful to question if authorities are able to rule out that sort of thing. If they aren’t, there could be more to the story.
