UPDATE (January 12, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify what occurred during this accident. 32-year-old Ashton Hutchison was reportedly riding a bicycle occupying the right-hand lane of eastbound Parmer Lane. A Ford Fusion occupied by a 38-year-old woman reportedly collided with the bicycle from behind. This collision caused Hutchison to come to rest in the middle of the two eastbound lanes. Authorities indicate that as a Ford Ranger occupied by Alexis Acevedo was attempting to pass the accident in the left lane, the pickup truck allegedly struck Hutchison as well. Acevedo allegedly fled the scene but was later apprehended. Hutchison was declared deceased at the scene of the accident.

According to authorities, 31-year-old Ashton Hutchison was riding a bicycle in the vicinity of the East Parmer Lane and Harris Branch Parkway intersection when the accident took place.

For as yet unconfirmed reasons, the bicycle was struck by a vehicle occupied by 19-year-old Alexis Acevedo. The vehicle also had a collision with a second car. Acevedo allegedly fled the scene, while the driver of the other vehicle did not. Hutchison reportedly sustained fatal injuries as a result of the accident, having been declared deceased at the scene. Acevedo was later arrested, according to officials, and faces multiple pending charges.
