Accident Report

May 2, 2026, Ashley Proulx, Ana Cordaway, and one other were injured after a car accident at 8:32 a.m. along Loop 79.

Authorities said in initial statements that the crash happened east of Val Verde Park near Del Rio at the intersection of Loop 79 and RM 2523.

It appears that 35-year-old Ashley Proulx and 56-year-old Ana Cordaway were in a GMC Terrain going eastbound. A Chevy pickup was going northbound. At the intersection, authorities say that the Chevy failed to yield, and the vehicles collided.

Due to the accident, Ashley Proulx and Ana Cordaway were seriously injured. The Chevy driver had moderate injuries. Authorities did not give additional details.

How Did This Accident Occur?

A driver allegedly failing to yield seems pretty open-and-shut, but there are a lot of reasons that can happened. I’ve seen everything from simple distracted driving to more serious drunk driving accidents to seemingly impossible things like a missing stop sign removed by a construction crew. The key is that investigators need to consider all angles and let the evidence tell the story.

Not only does that help get the full story, but it helps ensure victims and families have as much information supporting their side as possible. Even in the more likely scenario that someone is going to be held accountable for this accident, that path becomes far easier to navigate when the facts are clear. Either authorities can show they’ve given this crash that kind of attention, or there may need to be more thorough independent investigations
