El Paso, TX — January 16, 2026, Arnoldo Vargas was killed as the result of a car accident at around 9:25 p.m. along McCombs Street.
According to officials, the crash took place at the intersection of McCombs Street and Sweetwater Drive.
Investigators said that 30-year-old Arnoldo Vargas was in a Chevy Trailblazer going southbound along McCombs. Due to reasons unconfirmed, the Chevy and a northbound BMW collided. As a result of the collision, Arnoldo Vargas was killed.
No other injuries were confirmed. At this time, additional details are unavailable.

After any serious car accident, it’s important to know that investigations are focusing on gathering facts and not simply skimming the surface. Over the years, I’ve simply lost count of how many families I’ve worked with who found that authorities were more concerned with looking for blame and moving on than actually getting answers. As such, independent investigations can often be a significant help. Either they can show that authorities have been thorough and in their efforts, or they’ll reveal new details that authorities missed.
