San Jose, CA — August 25, 2026, Ari Green was killed in a box truck accident at about 10:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Hillsdale Avenue.

Authorities said a 2018 Isuzu box truck was heading west when it crashed into a San Jose Department of Transportation bucket truck, dislodging the worker in the extended bucket as he was repairing a streetlight.

The worker, 50-year-old San Jose resident Ari Green, died after being transported to a nearby hospital, according to authorities.

The truck driver and his passenger, who were not injured, remained on the scene after the crash, authorities said.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Santa Clara County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Was the box truck driver distracted? Was he struggling to handle an unfamiliar truck? Did the truck have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? Authorities should consider questions like this as they investigate this accident.

Investigators will reconstruct this crash by gathering physical evidence, vehicle data, witness statements and available video footage, while cell phone records could show if the box truck driver was texting or interacting with an app at the time.

Authorities also should determine if this truck was operated by a rental company or another company and whether it had been adequately maintained before this crash. If the truck was operated by a private company, its records should show if the driver was properly vetted and trained.
