How Did This Accident Occur?
This crash is a perfect example of why I often urge people to wait until an investigation is complete before reaching any conclusions about who caused an accident. Initial reports on this accident don’t give any indication of which driver might have caused the crash, highlighting the need for patience.
Investigators likely will pore over witness statements, evidence from the scene, data from the vehicles and any available video footage of collision to determine how this crash happened. Cell phone records could help as well, while an independent expert may be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical issue may have contributed to this crash.
Once complete, the investigation — by police or an independent third party — should answer any lingering questions that the injured driver and her family have about this crash.
