Houston, TX — March 10, 2025, a child was killed as the result of a drowning accident at an apartment complex off Hycohen Road.
Rescue teams were called to the area northeast of the TX-8 and Highway 288 intersection, just off Almeda Genoa and Hycohen Road.

Details say that the 8-year-old girl was staying with family at an apartment complex. The girl somehow got out of the apartment unnoticed. Despite efforts to search for the girl, she was found unresponsive in a retention pond.
CPR was administered, and the girl was taken to a hospital, but reports say the girl died due to drowning. Right now, additional details about the accident are unavailable.

There isn’t much for me to add to this story right now. However, I looked up the apartment complex where this reportedly happened, and I can’t help wondering whether or not the retention pond should have been closed off from the rest of the property. I hope someone is looking into that.
