Accident Report
July 30, 2026, Antoinette White and Dorthia Robinson were injured following a car versus house accident at 3:29 p.m. on East Colgate Street.
Preliminary statements from Lubbock Police investigators say that the crash happened along the 2700 block of E. Colgate Street, just off N. Zenith Avenue.
According to officials, 40-year-old Dorthia Robinson was in a vehicle going along East Colgate. For reasons unclear right now, the vehicle lost control and ran off-road. It then careened through the side of a home occupied by 55-year-old Antoinette White.
Due to the accident, reports say that both Antoinette White and Dorthia Robinson were injured. Authorities continue their investigations.
How Did This Accident Occur?
With any crash, it’s important to examine common factors like distracted driving and unsafe speeds. In a lot of accidents where cars crash into a house, authorities will also look at fatigue and possible intoxication. However, those incidents tend to happen late at night or early in the morning. This apparently happened in the middle of the afternoon. That makes me wonder if something unusual and possibly unavoidable led to the crash.
Did the vehicle have a tire blowout? Have authorities inspected it for mechanical or electrical defects? Does the car have some kind of automatic driving or lane assistance feature that may have malfunctioned? Did the driver experience a medical emergency? These aren’t things I usually see from preliminary police reports. Hopefully authorities are digging further into this or can otherwise hand this off to independent professionals who can dig deeper into what may have gone wrong here.
