Reeves County, TX — April 25, 2025, Anthony Reyes was killed as the result of a work accident several miles northwest off US Highway 285.
Investigators said that the incident took place at a work site near Mentone off the intersection of US 285 and County Road 232.
An initial inspection summary does not confirm the circumstances surrounding the accident that killed Anthony Reyes. There is no given cause for the accident. However, OSHA did list one serious alleged violation and recommended a penalty.
The current status of the investigation appears to be “open.”

While the cause of this accident isn’t clear, all Texas fatal work accidents need to be taken seriously. That’s not just because someone lost their life, but also because we have the most complex work fatality laws of any other state in the country. Families don’t generally get the best outcomes when they wait around for OSHA to do their jobs.
OSHA has their own priorities, and helping a worker’s loved ones navigate a legal maze is rarely one of them. Instead, my experience has shown me that families tend to fare better when they have independent investigators getting them answers and professionals helping them through Texas work fatality law and all of its twists and turns. Right now, I see no reason why this accident would be an exception to that.
