It seems authorities are already taking steps to ensure there’s accountability for what happened here. If their allegations are true, though, does responsibility for what happened begin and end at the crash scene? A lot of the time with drunk drivers, investigations will show that a negligent alcohol provider also needs to be held accountable.

Simply put, bars and other establishments in Texas can be held accountable when they contributed to a deadly accident. If they unlawfully over-serve someone who is obviously intoxicated, they can face legal consequences when that intoxication leads to people getting hurt or killed. But if the investigations solely focus on the alleged drunk drivers, the alcohol providers might slip under the radar.

That’s why crashes like this demand thorough investigations which can account for all the events surrounding and leading up to the crash. Someone lost their life here, and their loved ones deserve to know that the responsible parties are going to answer for their actions.
