Accident Report
May 24, 2026, Angelique Little and another woman were injured in a car accident just before 1:45 p.m. along State Highway 99.
According to authorities, 67-year-old Angelique Little was traveling as a passenger along with two other people in a northbound Ford Explorer on S.H. 249 at the S.H. 99 intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Ford allegedly entered the intersection against a red light. It was consequently involved in a collision with a westbound Jeep Grand Cherokee occupied by a 38-year-old woman.
Both Little and the woman from the Jeep reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Upon hearing about accidents where one vehicle allegedly runs a red light, most people are quick to settle on driver error as the cause. I’m not so eager to make that assumption before the investigation is complete, though. Why? Because I’ve been in this line of business for over thirty years. In that time, I’ve seen plenty of cases in which things turned out to have been different than how they initially appeared on the surface.
To be clear, I’m not implying that I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation does. As far as I am aware, driver error remains on the table as a possible cause. However, I would like to point out that the collision within the intersection could have been caused by something other than driver error. For example, what if the traffic signal was malfunctioning at the time? True, they are excellent tools, but they are not infallible. There is a chance, however slim, that the signal gave contradicting signals to the two drivers at the time of the accident, and that was why they entered the intersection at the same time. Is this situation likely? No; but neither is it impossible.
Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—are being thorough and openminded enough to get to the bottom of it. After all, the people who were affected by this accident deserve a clear and detailed understanding as to how it actually occurred. Surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
