Accident Report

Dallas, TX — May 24, 2026, Angela Thompson was injured in a suspected drunk driver accident at about 11:10 p.m. on Preston Road/State Highway 289.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a southbound 2011 Chevrolet Impala rear-ended a 2013 Ford Edge that was slowing down for traffic south of the intersection with Arapaho Road.

Ford driver Angela Thompson, 62, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report. The 26-year-old woman riding with her suffered minor injuries.

The Chevrolet driver, who also had minor injuries, is suspected of being intoxicated at the time of the crash, the report states, but he is not facing any charges at this time.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Dallas County crash.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Initial reports say that authorities suspect alcohol played a role in this accident. If blood tests confirm the Chevrolet driver was intoxicated, authorities should look into where he had been drinking before the crash.

It matters because alcohol providers can share responsibility under Texas law for injuries caused when a patron who was served while obviously intoxicated decides to get behind the wheel. I don’t know if that is what happened in this instance, but a thorough investigation will help ensure the injured Ford driver and her family know everyone who may have played a role in this crash.
