With single-vehicle wrecks like this, it’s easy for people to jump to conclusions. Obviously, things like fatigue, speeding, and distracted driving are common. But even uncommon possible factors need attention. That’s where authorities sometimes come up short in their more narrow investigations.
Did a tire blowout? Were there issues with the roadway? Did the vehicle have some kind of defect? Did the victims’ airbags and seatbelts function properly? Was there another reckless driver involved who fled the scene? Likely or not, it’s important to have answers to these questions, otherwise something important could slip through the cracks. Were authorities able to rule out these possibilities, or is there still more to this crash than what’s been properly investigated?
