Accident Report
March 17, 2026, Andrea Martinez and a minor were injured due to a truck accident shortly after 7:00 p.m. along Interstate Highway 35.
According to authorities, three people—31-year-old Andrea Martinez, a 13-year-old girl, and a seven-year-old girl—were traveling in a northbound Nissan Altima on I-35 at Marketplace Avenue when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, a collision occurred between the front-end of the Altima and the rear-end of a parked Freightliner.
Martinez and the 13-year-old reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. It does not appear that anyone else was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s easy to look at this accident and assume that the Altima was at fault for hitting the truck. However, I’ve had the opportunity to analyze hundreds of truck accidents over the years. Because of all the different types of accidents I’ve seen, I’m slow to jump to conclusions.
That’s not to say that I know something more about this specific accident than anyone else. I’m just pointing out that there might be more to this accident than was presented in preliminary reports. For example, the report did say that the Freightliner was stopped, but it did not specify where. Was it safely off of the shoulder with the requisite safety cones in place? Or was it in the active lane of the interstate, either partially or wholly? Did it have its hazard lights activated, as it should have? All of this is pertinent information to the investigation.
Hopefully, the authorities who are in charge of investigating this accident are being thorough and openminded. If not, maybe a third party investigation should be considered. That way, Andrea Martinez can have the answers to all these questions, and more, backed by solid evidence. She certainly doesn’t need excuses that just hand her a pile of possibly unmerited blame as she tries to heal from this ordeal.
