Weld County, CO — January 29, 2024, a train engineer and a passenger were injured following a truck versus Amtrak train accident at around 10:00 p.m.
According to current statements in the news, the incident happened just east of Keenesburg in the area of County Road 68 and County Road 398 (Interstate 76 frontage road).

The Colorado State Patrol reported that an Amtrak train traveling the California-Zepher Line was crossing through the area. A milk tanker semi-truck going across the railroad apparently got onto the tracks, though it’s unclear if the truck crossed as the train approached or if the truck was stopped on the tracks. The Amtrak train crashed into the truck.
As a result of the collision, reports say that an engineer aboard the train (an unidentified man from Utah) apparently had serious injuries due to the crash. A passenger on the train also reportedly had injuries, though their condition wasn’t specified. Some reports suggest a third person was hospitalized, though it’s unclear who or in what condition.
At this time, additional details about the crash remain under investigation.
