Cameron, TX — May 11, 2026, Amelia Mendoza was killed and five other people were injured in a car accident at about 9 a.m. on U.S. Highway 77.
Authorities said an eastbound 2018 Dodge SUV crashed a 2023 Chevrolet SUV that was stopped in a construction zone that closed all but one lane of traffic. The collision caused a chain-reaction crash that damaged three other vehicles.
Chevrolet driver Amelia Reyes Mendoza, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to authorities.
Five other people were hospitalized with unspecified injuries after the crash near County Road 203 Loop, authorities said.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Milam County crash at this time.
