Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

A head-on collision along a divided highway obviously raises serious red flags. Most concerning among them is the possibility that someone was unlawfully over-served by a bar so egregiously that they got on the wrong side of the road. That could mean that an alcohol provider broke the law and contributed to the crash, which would require immediate and thorough investigations beyond the crash scene to ensure they are held accountable.

That said, details are still preliminary, and there are other possible factors to consider, as well. Mechanical failures, tire blowouts, medical emergencies, poor signage or lighting, faulty roadway design, other unusual emergencies, etc. If steps aren’t taken to consider this accident from all angles, important details could easily slip through the cracks.

Hopefully authorities are taking every possible step to handle this crash properly. If they can’t ensure that on their own, then it may be best that independent investigators step in to pick up the slack.
