UPDATE (March 18, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify what occurred during this accident. According to these reports, 39-year-old Alonzo Burros was on foot in the eastbound lane of F.M. 1182. He was struck by an eastbound Toyota Sienna occupied by a 26-year-old woman. The Sienna fled the scene, neglecting to stop and render aid of any sort to Burros. After the initial accident, officials indicate that Burrows was struck by two more vehicles. He incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result and was declared deceased at the scene.
The woman who had been behind the wheel of the Sienna was later located and arrested and is facing charges in relation to this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
Ellis County, TX — February 1, 2024, Alonzo Burrows Jr. was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian versus car accident at about 6:45 p.m. along F.M. 1182.
According to reports, 39-year-old Alonzo Burrows was on foot walking northeast along Farm to Market 1182 in the vicinity of Whitfill Road when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, Burrow was allegedly struck by a passing silver vehicle of unknown make or model. The person(s) in the vehicle fled the scene, neglecting to stop and give aid of any kind to Burrows, who reportedly incurred fatal injuries as a result of the accident.
The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been clear and dry. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
