Georgetown, SC — February 22, 2025, a 13-year-old girl was injured as the result of an alleged intoxicated driver accident at 4:30 p.m. on Walker Road.
Initial details about the accident say that it happened off the corner of Walker Road and Wyndham Drive.
It appears that a 13-year-old girl was outside of her residence at the time. On the roadway, a driver apparently lost control and ran off the side of the road. There, the vehicle hit a parked vehicle, then struck the teen girl.
Due to the collision, the girl was taken to a hospital and continues to recover. No other injuries were reported. Authorities say that the driver involved faces charges. No further information is confirmed at this time.

While there isn’t confirmation that alcohol was a factor here, it raises serious concerns if it was indeed a factor. Much like here in Texas, drunk driving accidents in South Carolina don’t always begin and end at the drunk drivers themselves. There could also be a local alcohol provider legally responsible for what happened here.
Simply put, if an alcohol provider knowingly serves alcohol to someone who is already intoxicated, they may be responsible for harm resulting from the intoxication. A lot of the time, authorities become so focused on drunk drivers that they neglect to continue their investigations. I’ve handled hundreds of alcohol-related accident cases where a negligent alcohol provider only faced consequences because the victims and families sought us out for a second opinion. Had things been left solely up the police, the establishment likely would have continued their reckless behavior until more people got hurt.
So while nothing can be confirmed right now, it’s important to follow up with authorities see how thorough their investigations have been. If alcohol was a factor here, and investigators aren’t looking into where that alcohol came from, there may need to be more thorough independent investigations.
