Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
The car driver had allegedly been drinking, and they recommended a charge for DWI. If that’s true, is there more to this accident authorities have yet to look into?
I’ve handled hundreds of cases involving alcohol related accidents where there was both an intoxicated driver and a negligent alcohol provider responsible for over-serving that driver. But too often, authorities don’t extend their investigations beyond the drunk driver. That’s why so many of the alcohol providers I’ve dealt with over the years would have been let off the hook had it not been for our independent investigations. Sometimes, authorities are thorough enough to consider these possible factors, and maybe they were thorough here, as well. But it unfortunately wouldn’t be surprising if there was still someone out there responsible for this man’s injuries who has yet to face any kind of consequences.
