One Injured in Alleged Drunk Driver Accident on Babcock Road in San Antonio, TX

According to officials, a 31-year-old Pearsall woman was in a Toyota Corolla traveling eastbound on Babcock Road. At Overbrook, authorities allege that a westbound Chevy Silverado failed to yield making a left turn, and the two vehicles collided. As a result, the Pearsall woman sustained incapacitating injuries. The other driver, apparently uninjured, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time and recommended to face charges for DWI.

One thing I have yet to see is details about authorities finding out where the supposed alcohol came from. Naturally, when alcohol leads to an accident, people want to see the driver responsible held accountable. That usually happens, and there appears to have been some steps here to see that happens. But alcohol providers can also be in violation of Texas law when they over-serve people, and it leads to a serious accident. Yet too often authorities’ investigations only go as far as the drunk drivers, and that often lets negligent businesses off the hook to continue putting the community in danger.

Hopefully authorities were more thorough here and were able to find out where the driver got their alcohol. If it’s found that negligent over-service of alcohol contributed to the crash, there can be appropriate steps to ensure there are consequences. Otherwise, there may be a lot more to this story than these initial statements suggest.
