2 Injured in Alleged Drunk Driver Accident on Old Kyle Road in Hays County, TX

According to officials, a 28-year-old Houston man and a 37-year-old man were in a Honda Odyssey going northeast along Old Kyle Road. From the oncoming lane, a Dodge Ram crossed the middle line and crashed into the Odyssey. As a result, both men in the Odyssey had serious injuries. The other driver reportedly was injured.

Police allege that the driver of the Dodge was under the influence of alcohol. I often talk about how it’s important to also find out if that driver was illegally over-served by a local establishment. Folks may not think that would matter so early in the morning, but alcohol providers can break the law at all times of the day. A gas station or a restaurant could over-serve someone as early as 7:00 a.m. in the state of Texas. So if there’s even a chance there’s an accomplice out there responsible for contributing to all of this, that needs to be thoroughly investigated so they can be held accountable. Frankly, it’s not the sort of thing authorities always look into even in the peak hours when people are leaving bars. I’d be surprised if they made those efforts here.
