Accident Report

March 28, 2026, three people were injured due to an alleged drunk driver accident at around 12:10 a.m. along Duncanville Road.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened south of the Duncanville Road and Pleasant Run Road intersection.

According to officials, a 30-year-old man was in a Hyundai Sonata going southbound along Duncanville Road. A Genesis G80 was going northbound. It reportedly went onto the wrong side of the road, and it crashed with the Hyundai.

Due to the accident, the Hyundai driver and 35-year-old woman riding in the Genesis had serious injuries. The Genesis driver reportedly had moderate injuries. Authorities allege that driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time, and they recommended charges for intoxication assault.

How Did This Accident Occur?

From these preliminary reports, it seems pretty open-and-shut that alcohol was the likely cause of the crash. Throughout my career, though, I’ve seen preliminary reports make mistakes. It’s possible authorities were mistaken here, and something besides alcohol led to this crash. Or, perhaps alcohol was indeed a factor, but the drunk driver had been unlawfully over-served by a bar who needs to be investigated for their own role in the crash. That all is usually sorted out through proper, thorough accident reconstructions.

The issue is whether or not authorities are being thorough enough in their investigations. In my experience, when there’s a seemingly obvious factor leading to a crash—like alcohol—authorities sometimes get tunnel vision. All of their efforts may focus on seeing an alleged drunk driver held responsible for the crash. As important as that is, that could allow accomplices like a negligent bar or restaurant to slip through the cracks and continue putting the community in danger.

I can’t begin to count how many drunk driving accident investigations I’ve been a part of where we found a negligent alcohol provider responsible for contributing to a serious accident, and authorities simply never had the establishments on their radar. If they’re being more thorough with this particular crash, that would be very reassuring to hear. It’s just not the sort of thing I’d to take for granted.

So, is this crash getting the attention it deserves, or could there be more to this story? Let me know in the comments if you’ve heard anything more than what’s been made public so far.
