UPDATE (May 8, 2024): Authorities identified the woman killed in the accident as 30-year-old Alexis Nicole Kegler.
Harford County, MD — May 5, 2024, one person was killed and 23 were injured following a party bus accident around 6:00 a.m. on I-95.
Preliminary details from the Maryland State Police say the crash happened in the Belcamp area near the Riverside Parkway exit, several miles northeast of Baltimore.

According to current information, at least 24 people were on a party bus reportedly owned by Just Becuz Entertainment Party Bus Service. That bus was apparently going northbound on the interstate when, for reasons not clear right now, the bus crashed into a guardrail. As a result, one person onboard the bus sustained fatal injuries. The other 23 were taken to area hospitals. The exact condition of the driver was not specified.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Right now, it isn’t clear what exactly happened here. However, a situation involving a commercial bus is rarely simple. The reason for that in short is due to federal law requiring buses that carry more than 15 people to have a minimum of $5 million in liability coverage. That means insurance companies have a huge incentive to avoid as much responsibility as possible, and they go to great lengths to put victims and families on as unequal footing as possible.
People tend to think that everything is about what happened and who’s to blame, but even victims and families who have the facts surrounding the accident may not have the tools or experience on their own to know how to use those facts. Without the knowledge of how to overcome those barriers, even authorities coming out and blaming a bus driver for being reckless may not be enough to get victims and families the conclusion they deserve.
So while it’s not clear what led to this accident, I don’t see why getting help for those involved here would present any less of a challenge.
