Accident Report
March 15, 2026, Alexandra Salas and two others were injured following a car accident at around 12:31 p.m. along Doniphan Drive.
It appears that the crash took place at the intersection of Doniphan Drive/Highway 20 and East Borderland Road.
According to officials, 21-year-old Alexandra Salas and a 21-year-old man were in a westbound Mazda. A GMC Terrain was going northbound. At the intersection, authorities say that the GMC driver was inattentive, and the vehicles collided. Due to this, Alexandra Salas reportedly was seriously injured.
The passenger in the Mazda and the other driver had apparently less serious injuries. No further information is available at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
If it’s true that this happened while a driver was inattentive, that could make things seem open-and-shut. However, when answering, “How did this accident occur,” there is an inherent, secondary question: Why did it occur? That’s where things can get a bit more complex.
Distraction does not automatically mean someone was on their phone. That is the most common explanation, and that’s why cellphone data is the first thing I look to secure anytime I’m working on a serious car accident. But there can also be things like messing with a stereo, doing make-up, wrestling with a vehicle in poor condition, etc. I even had a case not long ago where a driver was reaching for a sandwich he dropped in the floorboard.
At the end of the day, it’s not about what you know; it’s about what you can prove. So, it’s best never to take anything for granted and to instead make sure car accidents get serious investigations no matter what.
