Linn County, MO — January 22, 2024, Alexander Rodriguez Gonzalez was killed and Donald Smith was injured after a truck accident at 3:19 a.m. on Highway 36.
Authorities with the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in preliminary statements that the crash took place about four miles west of Bucklin.
Officials say that 51-year-old Alexander Rodriguez Gonzalez was on foot at the time along the highway in the area of a stationary Freightliner truck. While there, it appears another Freightliner semi-truck going eastbound lost control on the icy roads. It then careened into a MoDOT truck driven by 34-year-old Donald Smith which was also going eastbound. This collision pushed Smith’s truck into Rodriguez Gonzalez, causing Rodriguez Gonzalez to suffer fatal injuries.
Donald Smith reportedly had minor injuries as a result of the collision. The other truck driver also had minor injuries. Right now, it’s unclear if charges or citations are being considered.
