Accident Report
May 14, 2026, Alexander Goff was injured due to a motorcycle accident at approximately 1:45 a.m. along Cummings Drive.
According to authorities, 19-year-old Alexander Goff was traveling on a westbound Kawasaki motorcycle on Cummings Drive at the Ashford Drive intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Kawasaki was allegedly traveling at unsafe speeds. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a curb.
Goff reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
I’ve noticed that people have a tendency, when they hear of motorcycle accidents involving young and possibly inexperienced riders, to assume they must have been caused by rider error. After over three decades in this line of business, though, I’m not so eager to make that assumption. Over the years, I’ve seen plenty of similar cases in which evidence that went against the grain of stereotype ended up being unearthed through thorough investigation. Sometimes, things just don’t end up having been how they initially appeared on the surface.
To be clear, I’m not trying to imply that I have more information about this particular accident than is already available to the public. I simply want to point out that, hypothetically, the motorcycle’s excessive speeds might have been a result of something gone wrong with the vehicle itself, rather than driver error. Motorcycles, while smaller than passenger vehicles, are still complex machines, after all. What if it had experienced a brake failure, for example? Or perhaps its throttle had somehow gotten stuck in the open position? Just because these things are not very likely does not mean that they are altogether impossible.
Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get an in-depth inspection done on the motorcycle. That’s what will be able to shed light on any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role in the wreck which might otherwise have flown under the radar. In the end, the people affected by this accident deserve a clear and detailed understanding of how and why it happened. Surface-level investigation just isn’t going to be enough.
